Revisiting the discussion
In March I started researching the candidates that were to be listed on the ballot for the June primary. I quickly realized that the local media had not provided the information I was looking for—nor had the candidates, for that matter—so I quickly crafted FutureofFresno.
My idea was simple: present election information in a way that feeds the insatiable intellectual appetite of a digital-driven Millennial (that's me). And I thought that if it was relevant and useful for me, it might just be for others, as well.
Since launching, several media outlets, and especially The Bee, have (hesitantly) stepped a bit farther into the Web world, but their efforts are still disconnected and half-hearted.
I'm not a reporter, and I find it hard to refrain from letting my personal biases come through (reference the previous sentence), so my hope all along has been to engage in dialog, balancing my perspective and opinion with others', utilizing technology that gives each voice an equal audience; no filter, no moderation.
So, while it may look as though the site has been abandoned, I'm currently cleaning it up, and hope to host future discussions about Fresno's leadership, political or otherwise. Anyone can create an account, and if a critical feature is missing, I'll work to add it—all in hopes of fostering further communication.
